Understanding what IQ is
The IQ (Intelligence Quotient) categorizes the population around a mean of 100 with a standard deviation of 15. About 98% of people score between 70 and 130, and roughly 50% fall between 90 and 110. The farther a score deviates from 100, the rarer it is. Only about 2% of the population scores below 70 or above 130.
Knowing your IQ can help you understand yourself and contextualize differences or similarities with others—especially if your score is far from average. It can clarify certain strengths or difficulties in social, professional, or educational settings. Treat IQ as an indicator among many (motivations, values, etc.), not a definitive conclusion about identity.
IQ tends to peak between ages 18 and 39, then gradually declines. Factors like diet and cognitively stimulating activities (e.g., playing chess) may influence scores. Studies (2025 and 2022) suggest healthier habits and school chess programs can correlate with improved IQ scores.
Understanding what IQ is
"Gifted" commonly refers to individuals with IQ ≥ 130. They often find intellectual tasks easier. Common traits include:
- Strong curiosity and a thirst for learning
- High perfectionism
- Occasionally obsessive interest in certain topics
- Often invisible hypersensitivity
- Great capacity for attention and concentration
People with IQ below 70 may experience greater challenges in intellectual and social activities and may have difficulties with adaptive behaviors, despite willpower and effort.
Understanding what IQ is
This test is inspired by Raven's Matrices (1936). Each question requires completing a pattern using logic. It measures reasoning, complexity handling, and pattern recognition. Because it is non-verbal and logic-based, it supports fair comparisons across languages and countries.
Reliability means scores follow a Gaussian distribution (mean 100, SD 15) on a representative sample. Our published study on the International IQ Test shows mean 100 and SD 15. While indicative, online tests do not replace in-person psychological assessments.
There is no single universally recognized official test. Our International IQ Test has been online since 2018 in multiple languages, enabling large-scale calibration and stable country rankings.
